About McKellar Australia

Professional expertise for an
AI-enabled world.

Artificial intelligence is changing how decisions are made and how organisations operate.

But most of today's professionals were educated before AI became part of everyday professional practice.

McKellar exists to close that gap.

Where we come from

Built on 15+ years in global education.

McKellar may be a new kind of professional learning institution, but the experience behind it isn't new. Our core team brings more than 15 years of experience in global education, including the development and delivery of professional and higher education to learners across international markets.

That experience has taught us something important:

Professionals don't always need another degree. They need the right capabilities at the right time.

The rapid adoption of AI has made that distinction more important than ever. McKellar was created to respond to this new reality — with focused, applied professional learning designed to keep pace with how work itself is changing.

Our approach

We don't teach AI for the sake of AI.

There are already thousands of courses explaining artificial intelligence, introducing the latest tools or teaching people how to write better prompts. McKellar takes a different approach.

We start with the profession, not the technology.

What can a public health professional do differently with AI?

How can a clinical researcher use it responsibly to improve research workflows?

Where can a pharmaceutical professional apply AI to evidence generation, analysis or regulatory work?

How can an economist incorporate new AI capabilities without losing the rigour of established analytical methods?

And when should a professional decide that AI should not be used at all?

Those are the questions that matter in the workplace. They're also the questions McKellar certifications are designed around.

What we believe

Technology changes. Professional judgement still matters.

AI can process information at extraordinary speed. But speed isn't judgement. It doesn't replace an understanding of patients and populations, scientific rigour, regulatory responsibility, professional ethics or accountability for the decisions that follow. That's why we believe AI is most powerful when it is guided by domain expertise and professional judgement.

Domain Expertise

The knowledge and experience professionals already possess within their field.

AI Capability

The ability to identify, understand and practically apply appropriate AI technologies.

Professional Judgement

The ability to evaluate outputs, recognise limitations, manage risk and use AI responsibly.

The objective isn't to replace one with another. It's to make them work together.

How we design learning

Designed by practitioners, for practitioners.

Professional learning should reflect professional reality. McKellar's approach is informed by practitioners and subject-matter expertise, with less emphasis on abstract technical theory and more emphasis on application, interpretation and decision-making.

Applied
Learn through realistic professional problems, workflows and use cases.
Profession-specific
AI is placed within the context of your field rather than taught as a generic technology.
Progressive
Build capability from foundational understanding through increasingly advanced applications.
Responsible
Understand not only what AI can do, but its limitations, risks and ethical implications.
Relevant
Focus on capabilities that can translate into how you work, contribute and progress professionally.

Australian foundations. Global outlook.

McKellar Australia combines the expectations of Australia's education environment with an international perspective shaped by more than 15 years of experience working in global education. Our professional certifications are designed for a workforce that is increasingly international, digital and technology-enabled. Because while AI tools may be global, how they should be applied depends on context. That is where professional expertise matters.

A different kind of institution

What McKellar is — and what it isn't.

McKellar is built for professionals who want to develop practical capabilities without stepping away from the careers they've already built. We don't try to replicate a traditional university experience. And we don't believe every emerging professional capability needs another degree attached to it.

Our focus is professional certification: targeted, applied learning designed around capabilities that have value in the workplace.

Not another degree.

Focused professional development that complements the education and experience you already have.

Not generic AI training.

AI taught through the problems, workflows and responsibilities of specific professions.

Not technology for technology's sake.

The objective is better professional capability — not simply knowing more about AI.

Not an RTO.

Our certifications focus on AI workplace capability and are not qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

McKellar is where established professional expertise meets the capabilities required for what comes next.

Why it matters

We believe AI should make expertise more valuable. Not less.

Much of the conversation around artificial intelligence focuses on what it might replace. We're more interested in what it can amplify.

Domain expertise+AI capability+Professional judgement

That's the future of professional development we're building McKellar for.

Your expertise got you here.

Build the capability that takes it further.

You don't need to start your career again. Build on what you already know — and prepare for what your profession is becoming.
